Can the Oral-B Professional Care 1000 keep up with the new models in town?
BUY NOW AT AMAZON!
The Professional Care range has been on the market for quite a while now, but it still continues to sell in large numbers year on year despite newer and more advanced models coming out on a regular basis.
We decided to put it through it’s paces and to uncover why this model is still around and selling like hot cakes! Can it still do the business? Read on to see how it does.
Still Rotating with the best of them!
So the Oral-B Professional Care 1000 model has the Oral-B’s “3D Cleaning” technology”, which as I’ve explained in earlier reviews, is the oscillating and rotating motion of the brush head. The oscillating/rotating motion is a vital part when it comes to cleaning your teeth like a visit to the hygienist.
It’s been proven that oscillating and rotating combination brushing removes over 12% more plaque from your teeth and gums than the old fashioned manual brushing. It also reduces bleeding gums by up to 17%. Now all these percentages may mean nothing to you, but if it improves your oral health, then it will more than likely improve your overall health, as health teeth and gums normally mean healthy body too!
Can you make your manual toothbrush oscillate 40,000 times per minute, and rotate 8,800 times per minute? Well if you can then you must be a robot or some sort of bionic creature. These speeds make the Oral-B Professional Care 1000 just as powerful as Oral-B’s most expensive, top of the range electric toothbrush!
What you get for your money
The Oral-B Professional Care 1000 is on the cheap side of the road when it comes to electric toothbrushes, so the package you get is basic. But this does not mean to say it’s inferior, far from it. You have everything you need to get you started and on the right track to having the cleanest teeth you’ve ever had in your life!
Here’s what you get in the box to give you visibly whiter teeth in 21 days.
- The handset
- The charger
- One free Precision Clean brush head.
Don’t forget to claim your free extra 1 year warranty. You’ll get a code inside the box which you can use online to get this.
So this is one of the cheapest electric toothbrushes you can buy, but when you actually open the box and hold the handset in your hand, you will notice that it feels solid and extremely well made. This is a common trait of most of Braun’s products.
The handset isn’t bulky or clunky to hold. It’s nice and slimline, and fits well in the hand. Oral-b have usability at the heart of all their brushes, as it’s important to feel comfortable cleaning your teeth, as you do it so many times in the course of your life.
The quality of this brush is easy to see and feel. It’s robust and will last you years.
What’s the Battery Like?
The battery life on the Oral-B Professional Care 1000 is good. In our tests we got about 6 days use with a fully charged brush. The only down side is the amount of time it takes to charge. When you first open the box and charge it up, it takes a good 18 hours to get a full charge on the handset.
Other Cool Features of the Oral-B Pro Care 1000
Even though this is Oral-B’s basic model, it still has some cool features for you to get excited about.
Gum care pressure sensor:
This is a great feature where the brush will tell you that you’re brushing too hard, in the form of a red light. Go easy now! You don’t want to damage those gums and pearly whites!
The brush vibrates every 30 seconds which indicates to you to move onto the next quadrant of your mouth. Oral-B recommends to spend two minutes brushing. Split this up into four quadrants (top left-side, top right-side, bottom left-side, bottom right-side) and brush them evenly in 30 second time segments.
At the base of the brush there is a light that warns you when you need to charge it, which is very handy, rather than waking up one morning and your toothbrush grinding to a halt!. As with all such toothbrushes, the charging stand has only a two-pin shaving plug, so you may need to buy an adaptor if you don’t have a shaver socket in your bathroom.
The ToothBrush Man Test
We had the pleasure of testing out the Oral-B Professional Care 1000 for a couple of weeks, as we do with all our toothbrush reviews. Even though this brush is at the lower end of the price scale, it leaves your teeth feeling really clean. I always try and compare the feeling with what it feels like after visiting the hygenist. This brush gives you that feeling of having your teeth cleaned professionally.
The brushing action has been independently approved and verified, so you can rest assured that you’re getting the best clean possible with a handheld electric toothbrush.
The small round rotating brush head feels wonderful on your teeth and doesn’t feel like a massive brush swishing around your gums. It’s nice and small and precise enough to get into all the nooks and crannies in your mouth. I love the feeling you get when you run your tongue over your teeth and you get that satisfyingly smoothness. This is what you get from the Braun Oral-B Professional 1000.

Which one is better Oral-B Professional Care 1000 or TriZone 1000? Which one should you buy?
Oral-B bring out new toothbrushes quite a lot throughout the year, and it’s quite hard to keep up with them sometimes. So while you’ve been researching the different products on offer, you may have come across Oral-B’s new range of electric toothbrushes, The Trizone.
Again, with most brushes on the market, we spent a week testing out the Trizone 1000, and to be honest, there isn’t too much difference between the Professional Care and the Trizone 1000.
- Speed is pretty much the same, both have just one setting.
- The feel of the brush in hand is no different.
So what is the difference between the two?
Answer: The brush heads.
They use the Trizone brush heads instead of the Precision brush heads.
The brush is split into three zones.
ZONE 1: The dynamic angled power tip is designed to access hard-to-reach areas like the very back teeth while the pulsating, sweeping motion delivers a thorough clean.
ZONE 2: Non-sweeping bristles pulsate on the entire surface of your teeth to fight plaque build-up and ultimately keep all of your teeth clean.
ZONE 3: Sweeping, pulsating bristles reach deep between teeth for a stimulating brushing experience that can improve the overall health of your whole mouth.
However, in my experience, the Trizone brushes make no difference to the overall cleaning of your teeth. The only benefit of buying the Trizone 1000 over the Professional Care 1000 is the slightly improved battery life. The ProCare 1000 lasts around 6 to 7 days, where the Trizone in my tests last 9 to 10 days.
So overall, I’d buy the Trizone for better battery life, but really it’s hard to separate both models in terms of overall performance. They are both much the same.
If you are used to the rotational brushing method with the Precision clean brush heads, you can actually use them on the TriZone. Just swap the heads on the Trizone with a Precision clean head.
Why you should go electric.
Everyone knows that manual brushing is so last century. Get with the times and start brushing your teeth with an electric toothbrush. There are so many benefits to going electric.
- Better oral health
- Precision cleaning
- Easier to keep your teeth and gums clean and healthy
- A professional clean feeling everyday.
- Over 85% of dentists recommend that you should use an electric toothbrush
- Oral-B electric toothbrushes are clinically proven to remove more plaque than if you were to use a traditional manual toothbrush
- Electric toothbrushes help take away the human error element to brushing, which can lead to serious gum and teeth problems in the future.
- Oral-B 3D technology is clinically proven to remove 2x as much plaque than a manual brush
